After 21 months of silence, one name is about to shake up Munster rugby again—and you won't believe how long he's been waiting for this moment.
Edwin Edogbo is set to make his highly anticipated comeback from injury when Munster takes on Edinburgh this Friday evening in what promises to be a thrilling BKT United Rugby Championship clash. Perhaps most notably, he's completely overhauled the entire backline for Friday evening's encounter in Cork.
Among the notable personnel changes, fly-half Jack Crowley has been given a well-deserved rest, with JJ Hanrahan (pictured above) making his return from concussion protocol to take the number 10 shirt. Ireland internationals Calvin Nash and Michael Milne are both inserted into the starting lineup for their maiden appearances of the current season. Meanwhile, Tom Farrell and Andrew Smith will also experience their first taste of action in this campaign.
Milne represents one of two modifications in the front row unit, replacing Jeremy Loughman at loosehead prop. Diarmuid Barron steps in at hooker to cover for Niall Scannell, who's unavailable due to a hand laceration injury, while Oli Jager maintains his position at tighthead prop.
Jean Kleyn and Fineen Wycherley will partner together at lock for the third consecutive match, providing continuity in the second row.
Jack O'Donoghue has been brought in at blindside flanker, with Tom Ahern making way, while Ruadhán Quinn and Gavin Coombes round out the back row trio.
Paddy Patterson gets the nod at scrum-half, forming a fresh half-back combination alongside Hanrahan. McMillan has also reshuffled both his centre pairing and his back three configuration.
In the midfield, Alex Nankivell has been rested and Dan Kelly moves to the replacements bench, with Farrell and Seán O'Brien forming the new centre partnership.
Nash will start on the right wing, with Smith occupying the left flank, as Thaakir Abrahams and Shane Daly both drop out of the matchday squad.
Mike Haley makes his return from a minor knock at fullback, taking over from Ben O'Connor.
Adding an intriguing subplot to Friday's fixture, former Munster fly-half Ben Healy will start for the visiting side, while ex-Connacht centre Piers O'Conor is also included in Edinburgh's lineup.
