Ready to say 'I do' with a touch of magic? Ines Di Santo is taking us on a whimsical journey this fall, inspired by the highly anticipated film 'Wicked: For Good.' This isn't just any bridal collection; it's a portal to Oz, woven into five breathtaking gowns.
Set to premiere on November 21st, the 'Wicked' movie, starring Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo, has sparked a unique collaboration. Di Santo's team, including her daughter and managing partner Veronica, was initially approached by Universal Pictures. The idea? To potentially costume Grande as Glinda for a wedding scene.
Veronica, a long-time fan of the play, was thrilled. She kept the project a secret from her mother, taking her to see the movie first to gauge her reaction. The result? Di Santo was completely captivated, leaving the theater brimming with ideas.
But here's where it gets interesting: the collection is a direct translation of the 'Wicked' universe. Di Santo immersed herself in the film's scenography, colors, and characters' essence.
Picture this: Glinda, a vision in pink, spun sugar tulle with iridescent butterflies, and Elphaba, a femme-fatale in emerald green with a devilish feathered cape. The remaining three dresses, while more traditional in white, incorporate pink, green, and gold, echoing the iconic Yellow Brick Road.
Di Santo notes that elaborate fairy-tale themes are trending among couples who are planning their big days. The dress, she says, plays a key role in bringing that dream to life.
With the 'Wicked: For Good' collection expected to hit retailers by April next year, brides-to-be will have the chance to step into their own fairy tale.
What do you think? Will these gowns capture the hearts of brides looking for a touch of magic? Do you think this collaboration is a brilliant move, or does it miss the mark? Share your thoughts in the comments!
